Is there any consensus on what butterbeer actually would taste like?

There's that bottled butterscotch soda that is clearly marketed as Harry-Potter-but-not-a-copyright-violation:

They sell one at the Universal Studio park (never been so I never had it) so I guess that would be the closest to a canon taste? I hear the Flying Cauldron one is close to that but idk

There was apparently a real pre-HP drink called "butterbeer" that basically consisted of beer, butter and sugar. I believe it dated back to the 1600s. I saw it on a British food documentary, but I forget which one - it was either Heston's Featss or Supersizers Go.
