104: She's androgynous? *sends in feminist brigade* Okay, okay, I get your point. And ever since that teaser picture was released I've been drooling over it. Still haven't seen the movie though. $12 for a fucking ticket here. Damn.

119: Do I have the right to say that Twilight sucks because I do read very challenging high literature in my spare time? I kinda feel like HP is the same way, sort of -- I read the books and got into the fandom because they were like crack, but holy fuck they are so stupid. And I could tell you what book my humongous and out-of-control senior thesis was on, but that would be pretentious. Right?

124: Is that... Henry Ian Cusick? He has a small fandom? Lololol o rly.

HP books are kind of lousy too, but the worst part is unlike Twilight people have fooled themselves into thinking they're actually a great work of literature.

And I'm a fan of both so it irks me when HP fans act like HP is so much better that Twilight when aside from the wonderful universe and characters J.K Rowling created, and the potential (all wasted) those books had, the series turned out a bit ridiculous, cheesy and clichéd in the end.

In a way I feel worse for the energy I wasted on HP than for reading Twilight, because I had such high expectations for HP when I discovered it and it was an underwhelming experience.

For the record, I only read half of a Twilight book and really was not impressed, so I can fully say -- with no offense to its fans, who have very good senses of humor -- they're shit. However, there's no shortage of shit things that have big fandoms. Again, HP is one of them. Many people, after Deathly Hallows, figured this out. I was one of them, and I kinda feel like a fool for joining sorting communities and investing in writing and reading fic and..... uuuuuuuuugh. /story of my life

At least the Twilight fandom isn't so wanky. (Or is it?) From reading [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt the fans seem to be pretty fucking hilarious. You're right: The high expectations never really existed; Twilight is cheesy. End of story. And yet I'm ~~dazzled~!

And Rob Pattinson is a good guy, so I like to keep up on his whereabouts. ;P

I wouldn't know, I haven't had much contact with this fandom, I'm in two comms for the news posts and that's all.

The high expectations never really existed

It makes all the difference in the world, reading something knowing exactly what to expect (even if it's cheese) and reading something thinking "omg this is going to be awesome, groundbreaking, the best" and getting HBP and DH instead, and that crapilogue.

I'm waiting for the feeling of being let down to be gone, I think when I read HP a few years from now, but fully knowing what to expect I will probably enjoy them more, when the disappointment has worn off.
