Re: Teen Wolf
(Anonymous) 2017-09-26 01:18 am (UTC)(link)Best bits:
- throwing back to Allison without it being too cheesy or overshadowing the current story
- All the throwbacks to previous seasons - Jennifer! Void!Stiles!
- Derek coming back all gung ho and then immediately getting taken out of the action. Classic. Derek.
- Lydia & Jackson BFFs 5ever <3
- Lydia telling Malia to kiss Scott to "help him concentrate" (Lydia's go to move lol)
- BADASS SHERIFF GOT A BADASS THEME SONG SON.
- Melissa and Argeant finally being happy (though I was rooting for Sheriff/Melissa since season 1 so this is bitter sweet)
- Coach being the best coach ever, as we all knew he was.
- Theo getting his redemption and fulfilling his destiny as New!Peter.
All in all, this season was a delightful hot mess and basically fanfiction come to life in the best way. Vale, Teen Wolf, you will be missed.
Re: Teen Wolf
Mostly, I thought 6B was just a really strong end to a series that languished in its back half.
Re: Teen Wolf
(Anonymous) 2017-09-26 04:08 am (UTC)(link)See, one of the reasons I use 'hot mess' to describe 6B is that I think the premise of this season was strong, but I think the pacing was a bit all over the place, especially at the beginning until the Sheriff's Station siege episode. I think there are a few reasons for this, the main one being trying to manage a huge cast of characters, many of them new, over several locations. In contrast, I think 6A and 5 were tightly plotted and paced and handled the introduction of new characters well, on top of having fun, menacing villains and satisfying mysteries. Also, though the premise of 6B was good, it's not particularly original - there are plenty of other shows that have dealt with group fear mentality before it and done it better, so it wasn't going to get brownie points on the strength of this premise alone.
But to make up for it, 6B came through with 100% effort on making the fans happy by bringing back characters, throwing in 'shippy' moments, having great character reunions and throwing back to previous seasons in clever ways, especially in the finale. And while this was sometimes very silly (for instance: Jackson and Ethan somehow found each other, got together and are now rich gay playboy werewolves of London? Sure, why not show, let's run with it), it was also really wonderful and entertaining for a long time fan to see tributes like that on a show that had it's dramatic moments but never took itself too seriously.
