Yes. I feel like, compared to other manga at least, Haikyuu is good at subverting the whole "we're rivals so we're over the top EViL!!!111" that predates shounen manga in general. Kuroko is a good example where some of the rivals where so over the top evil they might as well be leaving damsels in distress in the middle of a train road while twirling their mustache and laughing maniacally (I still love the series, though). Also it takes a realistic approach to volleyball and games in general, me thinks. Karasuno vs. Aobajosai match in the second season had me at the edge of my seat and the anime animated it beautifully, too! Even when I knew Karasuno was going to win I still held my breath during the final moments of the match.

Uh... that was a lot of ramble but it's one of the many reasons why I love the manga.

That said, yeah. I don't interact with the fandom much because they tend to fall under the same tropes over and over. It's like reading a random yaoi manga found on myreadingmanga with the characters faces but with completely flanderized personalities. There are jewels here and there, though.
