Re: Depression

(Anonymous) 2017-09-27 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds counter-intuitive, because depression really saps your energy and motivation, but personally I find that lying around too much makes things worse. I write lists and force myself to do small things, like brush my teeth, eat a healthy breakfast, etc. Keep up with personal hygiene. Eat as well as you can and try not to indulge in too much junk food, which is full of stuff that'll make you feel sluggish and sick. Have a small project you work on a little bit each day. Ditto getting out of the house and walking for 15-30 minutes every day - preferably in a park or someplace pretty, but a mall will work, too.

Setting small, manageable goals is the key because feeling like you're accomplishing something makes a huge difference. Oh and I don't know about you but even under the best circumstances I'm a slob. When I'm depressed, my slob tendencies get worse and living in an untidy space in turn makes my depression worse because I feel gross and guilty. So tackle a small cleaning project each day, whether it's dishes, laundry, clearing off the bed or whatever.

Best of luck to you, nonnny!
