First, what do you mean by "being assholes to people"? That's a very broad category.

Second, what do you mean by "claiming the moral high ground"? Is it something over and above just believing that you are right about the issues?

Yep, it sure is! There are many ways my side treats its opponents like subhumans unworthy of even the commonest decency. I'm not gonna argue each one with you.

I'd make a distinction between believing you're right about issues and believing you're a morally superior person to someone with a different opinion.

I mean that's obviously your prerogative

it just seems pretty meaningless and pointless and cliched to just say "my side does mean things" and refuse to be more specific

Fandom example: Doxxing people, sending death threats and being huge fucking bullies to people over fictional ships or topics while saying you have the right to do it because you have the moral high ground.
