I agree with this on principle but gay characters whose Gayness AREN'T central to their characters or plotlines are so few and far between on tv that I get where op is coming from too.

Besides, struggling with sexuality and identity aren't a necessarily gay thing. "Here is a young man who struggles to find who he is and how he fits into the world, and a large part of that is being gay," is different from "Tim's journey into accepting himself as a gay man"
