Ok, well I think if you already think Gaiman is a pretentious douchebag who believes in slavish adherence to authorial intent you will read a one sentence reply as that regardless. *shrug*

Are you disagreeing that he told the asker of the question that Wensleydale was Wensleydale's surname "as explained in the book" and then quoted a passage of the book that doesn't actually explain that? Because that's what you appear to be doing, which probably means that you live in a parallel universe to our own where coin tosses have the opposite outcome and we're not even looking at the same secret.

If you're not, then please explain to me why you think Neil's answer was a kind and not at all confusing answer to the person, probably a teenager, who asked the original question.
