104: You're trying to be a good person, and fearing failure is only normal. It's hard to live up to the ideals of characters like that, but only trying gets my respect.

114: No matter how naive or unsuspecting you may have been, the only one who can take any blame is the creep who hurt you. If you feel in any way comforted by healing sex in fic, go for it.

118: We-ll, that style is a bit too sugary-sweet for my tastes. I've always been more of a Kyo fan (which used to be lot easier before they started touring abroad, I can tell you that).

122: I honestly think it's one of the best new anime. It's not the first in the meta genre, but I think it's the first one featuring girls as the nerds...

Anyway, what does it matter should you feel attraction towards women as well? As long as you're in love with your boyfriend, he's got nothing to worry about, yes? Or does he constantly worry about you suddenly finding other boys more attractive than him too?

123: I generally don't read fanfic to get excited, you know. At least not the way you mean. Of course I read porn in fanfic form sometimes, but I don't seek out fanfic in particular just to read porn.

Even though I read pairing fic almost exclusively, it's the long, plotty journey through friendship and falling in love that I want, first and foremost. It's because of two particular characters that I read, not to put myself in the story (that's what my Mary Sue fantasies before falling asleep is for!).

128: Is it the Bollywood? I keep hearing so much about it, I need to watch some (more than the single film I've seen so far) one of these days. Any recs?

Anyway, lots of people like stuff in fiction that's outside their RL preferences.

I don't think she's that saying there's no female characters as interesting as the male characters, but there's more interesting male characters in general. I would agree with her when it comes to anime/manga though.

No, I said there are a lot more male characters. Except for a few series, which I actually do watch; did you even read what I wrote?

Female characters tend to get shafted in areas of character development, interesting dynamics with other characters, and actively furthering the plot.

I'm not saying this to validate my likes or dislikes, but as a criticism of the values in the fiction we're fed. Criticising female characters is not a way to bash women, it's a way to make people aware of how badly represented women are in fiction.
