(Anonymous) 2008-06-17 03:39 am (UTC)(link)If people aren't producing anything better than the original, I feel it is a waste of time. Compare this to when you read a new book out on the shelves - you have no comparisons, there's nothing to base the quality of that book except your other favorite books. But even then, they aren't the same characters. With fanfic, there's only so much butchering of characters I can take.
Wow, this is such a ranty argument, but I hope it at least makes sense because I'm getting tired of typing it, lol.
