I doubt it because that someone is showing no proof.

In Christian beliefs, even though love is all encompassing, a love between your spouse is in a higher order than a love for a friend. Heck the Christian bible is chock full of stories exalting romantic love more than anything else (even to dedicating a book called the Song of Solomon, which is... err... a celebration of love between a man and his wife. Don't surprising that this carried over to the modern era. In Judaism, they hold a similar belief.

The Persian also adopted the idea of through 'Eshgh, which is a gradual love

The Ancient Greek philosophers like Plato and Socrates usually herald romantic love with other men as ideal (although they seem disregard the sexual part in Phaedrus).

Even in modern society, the romance genre is the most popular genre in America, and popular in other countries. We're fed with the ideal of finding the One, a soul mate who is your lover and friend, and all that jazz whether it's though books, TV or movies. We even have a holiday celebrating romantic love. While friendships do get exalted, but not as much as love.

i want a source too, not your stupid bullshit interpretation.

I'm not one of the crazy!amusing!anons, but I am a slash-hater, and ... I can agree that romantic love is of higher regard than the love between friends. However, it annoys me to no end that so many slash fans will take something that is purely a friendship and decide to twist it into a romantic, sexual affair. To me, friendship is pretty fucking pure; I'm not saying sex is a dirty thing, just that it should be really be shared with someone you consider a friend because uh no, wtf. And contrary to what some stupid fucks say, yes, there is a difference between a significant other and a friend, although the latter is most likely a quality you do want from a SO.

However, I also do agree that romance is kind of a load of bullshit. Basically it's just a way for one to get into another's pants. XD ...But I could just be jaded from bad relationships, bawww. I'm down with it in fanfiction, though, but um.

Not between gay pairings, unless they're canon. Honestly, I just cannot stand to see characters being essentially bastardized for the sake of the author's own selfish desires (see: all this "exploring their relationship" nonsense). That's not to say it doesn't annoy the fuck out of me for het pairings, too, because oh shit does it. I don't wanna read about these two BFF suddenly deciding to get married — especially if they're already married or otherwise in a relationship with someone else.

Maybe you're idealizing friendship? Friendship is just as pure as romance. In other words, like I stated earlier, friendships have their fair share of shit as well. Like jealous friends who get pissed when you're hanging with your other friends or significant other. It can be nothing more than a benign give-or-take relationship, whether the payoff is either emotional or physical. Friendship can be dumbed down to establish connections for one's own benefit. And lawd, few things are shitter than a huge fallout between friends (and god forbid, they're in the same circle of friends as you and they talk shit about the other behind each back to YOU and putting you in the spotlight, sometimes attacking you). And friendships change, are fickle, and need maintenance like romantic love relationships.

The only difference between a friendship and a romantic relationship is the level of intimacy, emotionally and physically. Also, romance and friendship aren't exclusive from each other because a key to a good romance is that you're friends with your lover. Personally, I find that the only relationship I was really happy in is with my last ex-boyfriend who I was friends with four years prior to going out with him. Even though we're not going out now anymore, we're still friends. My previous relationships before that one were filled with bitter disappointments and I had an unrequited love for close male friend (which he knew) that lasted for 5-6 years (and in B4, lol you have to date your male friends, I have numerous male friends that I love as friends, some as brothers, but never can consider them romantically). Despite that, I'm hopeful of finding love, not it's my number one priority, but if I found it, I would welcome it (of course, I rather be friends first). At least, I'm free to love whoever I want because people didn't have that privilege until the late 19th-20th Century, heck some people don't have that privilege and hope that they fall for their arraigned finace(e), although some of those cultures have matchmaking session and the such.

So I can see why people pair friends more than most character combinations, because they have that potentiality to be intimate as lovers, and a healthy romance needs friendship as well. And truth to be told, not all slashers slash friendship pairings or even the same ones so that old stereotype that they'll slash every two guys on the screen is untrue. Like there's male friendships l like, or think this two pair characters who make the awesome friendship/comrade pair.

But I'm not trying to convince you, just giving a different point of view.

Damn this thing was too long.
