Jodi Picoult books are terrible about that. I've still found many of them to be worth reading but there's always a twist and sometimes it's a very deus ex machina sort of twist.

The ending to My Sister's Keeper didn't annoy me as much as the fact that they changed it for the movie. I'm not even talking about which one is better, just - why adopt a book into a movie if you're going to totally change the story?

It did feel kinda deus-ex-y in the book, though, in a weird way. :/

Fuck that book and fuck Jodi Picoult.

I mean.

It's probably been ten years or more since I read it, and I'm still pissed off about that ending.
