Out of curiosity, have you read The Hunger Games? Some fans really didn't like the later deaths, but I thought they fit the narrative.

I have! I didn't hate those deaths being part of the narrative, though they did make me sad. Could have done without killing Prim, but that didn't piss me off as much as it probably did some people. (Poor Katniss had really had enough at that point.)
