Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, Jasper Fforde, Philip Pullman, China Mieville. Also Jon Ronson for nonfiction.

Also, I'm going to include Yangsze Choo - she's only written one book ("The Ghost Bride"), but it's one of my favorites, and I'm desperately hoping her next novel is coming out soon.
