I didn't mind the ending so much because of the fairy tail thing. In any other genre I agree that it would have felt really shoehorned.

I would love an expanded story! Particularly one that details more adventures Lapine and Renarda have together :) Especially if it could set up more of a romance arc for them where they don't do the love-at-first-sight thing (again, fairy tail, so not a big deal, but an expanded story would have been more fun imo).
