Maybe it helps to remind yourself that they're human, just like anyone else? Aside from a couple of things they do really well, or that you admire them for, they are autonomous individuals who eat, breathe, sleep, poop, fuck, exercise, bake, freak out, cry, love, hate, recycle, buy stuff, etc. And despite what you do know of them, remember that you *don't* know them... all you have is a snapshot of their life; they are not perfect, and for all you know, they could secretly be doing something you strongly object to, or have political views that make you want to rip your hair out, for example. Remember you are no more entitled to their friendship than you are to anyone else's, or they to you. However! That doesn't mean you aren't allowed to approach them (unless they're *that* kind of person) and discuss a topic (nothing too personal or off-the-wall at first), or let them know you admire them.

It might also help to ask yourself what you would do if you were in their position? How would you like to be approached by a fan? What would you be comfortable with? What would leave a bad taste in your mouth?
