Another day in America that won't lead to any kind of stricter regulations or reform.

That boat passed when a bunch of children were murdered and nothing happened.

People were talking about gun reform today and how they're certain politicians are gonna do something about it now, but all I could think of was the fact that classrooms full of dead children couldn't get gun reform passed, so why would this? They're just gonna pay lip service to the tragedy and move on and it breaks my heart that so many people are gonna live with those scars.

I don't even want to think about what it would take to get people to do something about this issue at this point, and get the NRA to back the hell off. The complete and total inaction is so incredibly fucked up.

Basically.

Everyone in America who does not support gun control is complicit in these deaths, period.

Bullshit argument.

Why.

DA

Even the people for gun control can't do shit against the NRA.

I recognize that there are reasons besides popular opinion for America's failure to pass gun control laws. But I don't think that changes what I said.

Yup. Fucking nauseating.

ITA, though I also think we need to focus on the social aspect.

(Also. As in both. It depresses me that you're supposed to only believe one or the other in the conversation. I want guns banned. I also want to know why the hell this sort of thing happens.)

Re: Shooting in Las Vegas.

Yes. This. If anything, learning about one aspect of why these tragedies happen can help make solving the other aspects of it a little easier, and a coordinated effort to deal with all the issues involved could make for a great start at changing things for the better in general.

Well, I don't know about the gun reform, but Trump will definitely do something to help.

Like, you know. Dedicate his next golf trophy to the victims and stuff.

Another day of HERP DERP CHICAGO HAS TOUGHEST GUN LAWS IN COUNTRY AND LOOK AT THEM as though people don't just go to neighboring states with incredibly lax gun laws to get their guns. States can't do this individually. We need nationwide gun reform.

Frankly, I'd love to see an outright ban, but baby steps are okay too. But even that won't happen.

At least I'm not hearing any "A good guy with a gun would have stopped it!!1!" since no one can argue that would have helped in this instance.

Oh, I'm sure it will, though. Hotels will now be required to install TSA-style security complete with metal detectors, as well as super thick bulletproof glass in all their windows!

I'm being sarcastic here, but honestly, that's probably what will happen.
