Though I have been seeing a lot of ridiculous hair in other places, like bands and such. This is just one of those things we'll all look back on a couple of years later and feel terribly ashamed.

126. I like quite a few popular series, but I still wish some of the less popular ones would have larger fandoms, because they're usually my favorites. (Haibane Renmei, Kino no Tabi, etc.)

137. Try telling that to fandom. Before I read DN, I thought Matt was a major character from all the fanart I saw of him and Mello. I think that news lady Light was manipulating got more panels than he did.

157. I love seeing how any artist's artwork changes over time. It's almost always an improvement, but I usually see fans of manga saying the early stuff was better.
173. My younger brother is exactly the same! I don't get it all, but you're not alone. He won't go to cons or anime movie screenings for fear of cosplayers.

PSA: I agree so much on the seme/uke labels. Everytime I see them used, the characters get completely warped into stereotypes. Relationships don't have to be so black and white!

(Anonymous) 2008-06-18 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)I counted how many panels Matt's in once, but I can't remember now.... He IS in only four scenes in the anime, each of which is less than five seconds long other than his death scene.
And yes, I do hate this character passionately enough to count it- just so I can quote how uselessly little canon information is provided on the guy. I've scared more than one Matt cosplayer away, which is a shame because I'm generally a nice person.

I think a lot of people are sort of projecting themselves through Matt so they can have the perfect guy to be with Mello. :/
