I find this kind of badfic hard to resist, actually. I end up weirdly invested in figuring out whether the author is just really naive or if they come from a very different country/culture.

Weird example is a teen wolf fic in which everyone had a relationship to alcohol that just didn't feel right for 18 year old americans living in california. Turned out OP was irish.

I read it for the love-to-hate thrills, just to see what kind of things they apparently thought were good restaurant cooking practices. They obviously had only ever cooked at home or possibly read about cooking, and maybe it didn't throw people who also only ever cooked at home.
