And now that he won't let me take naproxen, which I was taking with tramadol before (admittedly I was taking too much, but I don't think that means I should have to cut it off entirely)

Uh...yes,actually. When you're taking "too much" of a drug, it's quite reasonable to expect that your doctor will not support that, for your own good. I'm sorry you're in pain, but that's how prescribing works, unless your doctor is shady.

I'm pretty sure that's just for addictive drugs. We're talking about naproxen, which is over the counter.
