(Anonymous) 2017-10-08 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)You are going to be old yourself some day and you'll be full of longing and romance, just like the next person. If you're a nice person besides, you might even have someone to share that with.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-08 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)Someone of that age should damn well KNOW BETTER than to legitimately believe that stalking/controlling/obsessing = ~romantic~. Now, I don't think it's creepy for older people to think that a well-done romance is sweet and romantic even between teens, or to daydream of having romantic experiences like that themselves (although ngl I would consider it a bit creepy if they were fantasizing about being with an underage person, especially if it was the irl actor/actress. Shades of the dudes who were making countdowns till Emma Watson was 16 and therefore of the age of consent in the UK.) You don't outgrow a fondness for romantic fantasies, if you grew up having such fondness. But there's a difference in going "this love story is so cute and sweet and romantic, X character is adorable and Love Interest is a lucky person" versus going "I am so obsessed with these fictional teenagers that I, a 50+ year old adult, and going to tattoo the faces of the adolescent actors portraying them onto my leg FOREVER."

(Anonymous) 2017-10-09 02:34 am (UTC)(link)1) It was a woman in her late 50s being super invested in a high school girl's love life + a vampire who looks like a teenager, i.e. someone younger than her own children.
2) Twilight isn't "romantic", it's a tale of highly dysfunctional obsession, control and stalking that was portrayed as romance, and it's creepy when anyone - no matter what age! - fails to see that for what it is.
