Hispanic isn't a slur, it's just often inaccurate, irrelevant and unspecific, and thus not preferred. For example, someone can be from Mexico and have no Spanish blood. Or what about a Brazilian? Latino/a denotes a more specific, relevant origin. Latino/a only refers to people from the Latin American cultures, not from Spain.

(Not every word people don't prefer is a slur)
