Most action movies tbh, it's not easy to write a compelling romance in a 2 hour time-frame filled with fights and explosions, and I think most writers should avoid it unless they absolutely get it to work naturally with the rest of the movie.

I even like romantic subplots in my media but action movies are not good places to try and shove those in if I'm being honest.

Agreed. Most action movies seem to squeeze in a romance because they feel like they have to or something? But they don't actually want to do the work of trying to build a credible relationship so it feels very artificial.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I love it when it's done well, but so often it feels like it's shoved in because 'every movie needs a romance' and not because it makes sense or is earned.

Movies don't always need romance and that's fine.
