I haven't watched this, but I can relate. I got to a point in Hard Candy where I hated the vigilante kid so much the murderous pedophile almost seemed sympathetic by comparison. It's not so much rooting for him as picking him by default, because "meteor strike kills everyone in the movie" isn't a likely ending.
