Some people are trying to make a new blogging platform that combines the 'best features' from LJ and Tumblr. Comments, control over your content, control over if an entry is rebloggable or not. Stuff like that.

Ah.

I wouldn't be optimistic - I think these are *much* harder problems than people generally realize, and IMO most of the problems are not fundamentally technical so it's not necessarily something that you can solve with programming.

But it'll be interesting to see what they come out with.
