i disagree like fuck.

what excuse was there for elizabeth' SON to be more interested in breaking his father's curse than ELIZABETH SWANN HERSELF, KING OF PIRATES, NO FUCKS GIVEN LACED INTO A CORSET.

like i get making a new franchise but don't make it out of a plothole so big you could sail the dauntless through it.
i at least applaud that they tried to do something different with carina but the fuck did henry turner add to this story. urgh. i'm so mad.

IA, and it probably has a lot to do with Kiera Knightley's reluctance to take on a big role in the franchise again. But to be honest... I'm kind of glad. That whole "king of the pirates" thing was cringey as hell, the portrayal of Chinese pirates were kinda racist and Chow Yun-fat deserved far better than that shitshow.

da

agreed on all the cringey pirate king and there should be a movie out there on Chinese pirates and the bad ass woman who led the most fearsome lot of them at a certain point (historically accurate if possible too). Like a miniseries, or a full on historical drama. Yeah. I'd watch that.

There was a movie that came out in 2014 called "The Pirates" that had plenty of Asian women pirates in it.

A+ on that Dauntless line

Henry was amazingly cast -- he managed to look and act like both of his parents. It was great. I think he'd be more of the sidekick until he found his purpose. And maybe that is his purpose. To find his purpose, what with growing up knowing who your father was and your mother was, who should you be? Who are you?

Of course, Carina was more of the "Spitfire", so they might focus on her.

Any who, raising a kid isn't always conducive to trying to undo the curse that befell your husband (although it'd make for some kind of story line -- Henry would probably be different too). So why do it yourself when your kid could go out?

But the anon above summed it up well about Keira probably not wanting to be heavily involved. She did look beautiful though :)
