It's not that knowing a twist ruins a movie/show/book/whatever for me. I can (and will) reread/rewatch media already knowing what happens and generally still enjoy it as much as I did the first time. It's that I only get a chance to watch something with fresh eyes and no real expectations once. I understand that some people don't like that experience. Some people like to know things in advance. And that is fine. But I don't understand why wanting to see something unfold as it happens is an odd thing. I can reread/rewatch something many many times, but I can only watch something unspoiled once. And I like that experience.

I'm personally neutral on spoilers overall, but I totally get this reasoning, too. And sometimes there can be a fun or amazing "surprise!" moment that one might enjoy more if they didn't know it was coming ahead of time.

Even without a "surprise" moment I prefer watching something unspoiled, as even minor things can change my experience. But, yes, especially with those moments. Like with The Sixth Sense as the person below this mentioned. I liked watching that movie again, but it was such a different experience watching it unspoiled the first time.

I was one of the relatively few lucky enough to watch The Sixth Sense without knowing the twist. Nothing is like the feeling of experiencing a twist firsthand, and the movie is totally different if you know the twist all along. So glad I got to see it without knowing.

But even without plot twists, I generally just like to see something without any other influence.

I was too! And I am also glad about that. I watched it again the next day knowing the twist, and I still enjoyed it just as much, but it was a completely different experience. I'm still sad that I was spoiled about Ares in Wonder Woman before I saw the movie. I still liked the movie a lot, but I wonder how it would have been different if I hadn't known.

And I agree. Even things like character interactions and stuff feels different when I know versus don't know.

I love those "the end changes the rest of the movie" twists! I'm glad I managed to be unspoiled for The Others and Inception, because I immediately rewatched them after the first time just to catch all the clues and foreshadowing.

Oh, The Others. I'd forgotten about that movie. I was also spoiled for that one and wish I hadn't been. As I liked it well enough but think it would have been an entirely different experience if I hadn't known. But, yeah, that's exactly what I did for the Sixth Sense. I love that for some movies I can get a completely different second experience out of watching them if I was unspoiled the first time around.
