I wouldn't mind seeing some new adaptations either. I think all the problematic stuff can be worked out super easily (while still maintaining the story, of course) and like you said, with the right budget and right team working on it, the CGI could look awesome.

Someone else pointed out In the Mouth of Madness, which wasn't an adaptation but was very clearly inspired by Lovecraft, with references and tributes to it, and I would totally settle for more movies like that as well. I think that would give the director and writers a little more freedom, and stuff like that wouldn't anger the Lovecraft purists, at least, haha.
