That drone is violating your airspace and I should think you would be within your rights to take it down if you can catch it.

Nope. I hate guns, have never owned one, but practically the first thing I did was google if it was legsl to shoot them down. It isn't, and so far all the test cases have ended in victory for the drone owners. It seems like it might be illegal for drone owners to record other people on those people's private property, like if they were sunbathing nude or whatever, but that's about it. The first time I saw one up close, I'd been watering the plants on my back patio and I aimed the hose at it when it buzzed me, though. I'm really tempted to make a big poster that says something like "next time you bring your toy drone low enough, I'm gonna drown it in the bathtub," and leave it on the roof for a few days.
