Yeah, they actually grouped up the designers based on background in the first episode, and there were four genderfluid ones, though I'm not sure they used that word. Most of them got kicked off early.

I thought Ayana was chosen pretty much for being Muslim, but I've been pleasantly surprised by her talent.

That's so weird, I haven't really liked any of her fashion. The textiles rarely look harmonious together and the hijab is ALWAYS the odd thing out in her outfits, like a poorly considered addition. It's not a great representation of modest fashion IMO, because it literally looks like the bad stereotype that people picture of just throwing on whatever for the sake of covering up.
Though I can see how maybe this is my European-colonized taste speaking, and these things are different to people who grew up with another aesthetic sensibility. And she really can construct a good top.
