maybe you could take it as motivation instead of condemnation. I think it would be safe to assume that Steve, of all people, understand wanting to do something and being unable to. But what he might not understand so well is being content to just stay that way and not striving to do the best you can even when you're limited in what you can do. Perhaps the next time you feel strongly that something is wrong, even though your habit is to stay quiet and stay in your comfort zone, you could pull the 'what would Cap do?' instead. You don't have to save the world. You don't have to get out there and join protests. But why don't you find things you can do. You can write or call your government representatives. You can donate time or money or items to causes that are doing good. You can always work to be kinder, gentler, more aware and supportive of your fellow humans. Pay for the person behind you at the drive through, clean out your closet of the clothes you don't wear and donate them, chip in a bit extra and buy some food cans for a food drive. Not every battle has to be a confrontation or put pressure on you. Work every day toward making yourself more like someone Cap could be proud of and in time I don't doubt that you'll be much closer to being who you think Cap would be proud of. Its not a matter of being ashamed of where you are - its a matter of you refusing to grow and get better. Don't do the first - but don't do the second either.
