Curious why as I love this dude as an author although his early works as I like disturbing and psychological horror. As far as I know he currently writes books about restaurants (unless there is murder in said restaurants - I would not read it xD). Otherwise only read his blog and he speaks about bdsm clubs and his husband and weird art. Not that he cannot be an arse as duh, I do not know him beyond blog and books (and one bizzare mailing list conversation where he had a stalker who was convinced no gay in books happened).

This is super late but I'm reading through what I missed over the weekend.

Yes there are indeed murders in the restaurants. But the books are thrillers and not like his earlier horror novels.

I was convinced it was food porn (not sexy times with food but sexy recipes) but I'd love his writing in short stories and Drawing Blood, the Lost Souls parts am kind of ambigiuous to as it had a lot unfleshed characters to me. Will check newer ones so thanks for mention.

There's a gay couple who are both chefs and lots of descriptions of food. I like my descriptions of food so I enjoyed them as much as I liked his earlier novels. But this is definitely more on the from goths who drink chartreuse to beer-guzzling football fans kind of transition for him.

(But yes I loved Drawing Blood. And I'm still fond of the Steve and Ghost stories.)

I snorted as this advance kind of sounds like getting old ;) . It is interesting to observe how writers change over time and how it affects they works. Will see if food extravaganza works for me but if not - my husband digs such things.

It really does lool, now they're married men guzzling beer and massaging each others' feet. It's kinda sweet in its own way.

I hope you and your husband enjoy the things! :D
