I mean, I know it's not an insurmountable obstacle, but the characters all died in the show

It's sci - fi. Nobody really stays dead.

That's why I said it's not an insurmountable obstacle

The X-Files comic has them still alive, having faked their death and gone underground.

I'm just saying.

Rightly or wrongly, Carter seems to be at least somewhat committed to the canon. Doesn't seem to just want to bring back all the fan favorites and have the Krycek + Lone Gunmen + CSM Comedy Hour.

Krycek + Lone Gunmen + CSM Comedy Hour sounds so appealing tho.

I mean. The secret quotes Carter in an interview straight up saying that you'll maybe see one of them in the next season so clearly it's more plausible than not.

I'm not saying it's impossible or anything. I'm just not sure it merits getting angry about when the characters are dead in canon

Also there's at least a 50% chance that if the Lone Gunmen do appear it'll be in some kind of X-Files Weirdness type of way. Like in Anasazi or whatever where Mulder's dad and Deep Throat show up to talk to him about New Age bullshit

I can't say I think it's stupid if they don't bring TLG back, but I can absolutely, wholeheartedly say I think it's dumb as fuck they killed them off in the first place. (I mean, theoretically it could've been handled well and I might not have hated it, but the way it was handled was awful and it basically just wasted three great characters after all those years.)

Honestly, I got to the "Fuck this, I'm out" stage with TXF after IWTB turned out to be terrible. At this point I'm basically incapable of taking issue with any one particular aspect of the revival. In my eyes, it's all one big pile of That's Not My X-Files.

I was never expecting to see any of the characters who had been killed off in the original show (including CSM, whose appearance in the revival still didn't lead me to assume we'd see any of the other dead characters), so I don't know why "getting the band back together" must necessarily include ALL of the beloved characters when some of those were killed off ages ago.

I thought I caught a glimpse of one of them in the trailer, though, maybe?

My question: where is Doggett?
