Boy are they going to be mad when they find out Ragnarok is super comedic throughout the entire thing.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-24 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know why, but this wording made me laugh out loud for some reason.

Oh, thank the gods. The big stupid of MCU is insufferable when it takes its self seriously, which is why the ultimate MCU movie is:

She Hulk and Squirrel Girl

If anything, that's part of why I AM tempted to watch the movie...
nightscale: Starbolt (Marvel: Loki outfit)

Honestly I'm looking forward to him being the butt of jokes, the little shit deserves it.

This is actually the first time I might find him interesting. I like villains, heroes, and anti-heroes who take joy in what they do especially. That's what made me more of a Thor fan than a Loki fan to begin with. So maybe I'll like Loki more in this one, though I'm firmly expecting to mostly be all about Hela.

The main reason I'm wary of the movie is because I'm highly allergic to cringe humour and all I've seen of the trailers look like quite a bit, if not all of the humour in this movie will edge into cringe territory.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-24 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
They waited until now to get mad? Did they just ignore the part that Marvel mythology basically sums up all the popular pantheons as petty aliens with advanced tech or magic?

I always wonder if people like that were mad at Stargate too. I also wonder if heathens/pagans these days are mimicking the example of modern day Christians because they've internalized that that's how you perform Religion Liek For Serious, or if they're all just trolls. Either way that's pretty fucked up.

That being said I agree with you, OP. Loki of the Eddas is fucking hilarious.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-24 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Just from what I’ve seen, it’s not so much about the mythology and more about people relating to Loki on a very personal level.

Loki of the Edna's is fucking hilarious, and I would love MCU Loki so much if he decided to roll with it and become the ultimate troll we know he should be. C'mon, Marvel! Let him be a sneaky, snarky little shit. The happy medium between pseudo-tragic villain and butt of cringe humour would be such a sweet, sweet spot.

Lmao is this real?

Why is it always Thor and Loki fans that act this way smh
cakemage: (Valkria)

[personal profile] cakemage 2017-10-24 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. Myth Loki got up to some seriously wacky shit. Like turning himself into a mare to distract a stallion and later giving birth to Sleipnir, the eight-legged horse. Or that time Thrym the giant stole Mjolnir and said he'd only give it back if Freya would marry him (naturally, she refused), so Thor dressed up as her and Loki dressed as a bridesmaid. Together they tricked Thrym into placing Mjolnir in Thor's lap and then slaughtered every giant at the wedding. I honestly doubt that the MCU could come up with anything more comically degrading to do to Loki than what happens to him in the actual myths. Norse mythology (like all mythology, really) has a lot of really fucked-up shit going on.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-24 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
The problem is that Hiddles plays him as Chronically Constipated Tragic Emo Hero instead of chaotic trickster.

Missed opportunity, indeed.

Before I read the secret I thought that was a picture of James Franco from The Disaster Artist. Sorry, Tom Hiddleston.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-24 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's still a shame, though. Loki and the family drama are one of the few good things the Thor movies have. I guess Thor's pals are cool too but they need more screentime.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-24 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I like Loki better than Thor but I think that is mostly because I haven't found Thor fun or interesting since the first movie. I am actually quite excited for this movie, since it looks like Hemsworth is actually going to get to be the focus and use his impressive comedy skills as well as his muscles.

Not gonna lie, I loved the first Thor movie as a family drama and have written tons of fix its based solely on the first movie, but I know damn well canon is something else entirely, so I am just looking forward to a really fun movie and plan to take it for what it is.

I definitely lol'd when he randomly disguised himself as Captain America.

And when Hulk ragdoll'd him into the ground, of course.

This is the first thing that made me vaguely interested in seeing this movie. The more epic doom gloom despair and dramatic explosions the MCU movies get, the less I give a fuck.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, I just wish we could have gotten some mythological looking scenery instead of some GotG technicolor knock-off, but the previous two Thor movies did that all wrong (or just stayed on Earth) and comedic action movies print more money. At least we got Logan, a noir? western?, and the upcoming New Mutants being marketed as horror so far. Both by Fox, lol, good on them for trying to branch out of the traditional superhero genre a bit. Just don't make another Fantastic Four movie please Fox, you guys suck at that one.

The only Thor story I like is the God of Thunder: God Butcher storyline, anyway. Story felt majestic and the art was SO GOOD OMG. Others I've tried just didn't click with me...although I will admit to enjoying Thor related fanfics. Kek.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I remember a gifset on Tumblr going around of Thor throwing his hammer at Loki and talking about how 'unfair that they're turning Thor's abuse of Loki into a joke' and people ripping them a new one by pointing out that Loki was an immortal criminal responsible for the deaths of hundred, including the indirect death of his mother

If him getting a hammer to his face for a joke is the only real punishment that he gets, he's getting off easy

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Loki is my favorite of all the gods I've read about because he's fucking hilarious. Loki is supposed to be a sly, cunning Trickster who uses his humor & intelligence to diffuse ugly situations. I love me some Hiddles!Loki, but he's got nothing on myth!Loki. I'm looking forward to a less angsty, more humorous Loki.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Loki is great in Ragnarok, point.

Also I pretty much laughed like an idiot throughout the whole thing.
