It really annoys me when there is a three stall bathroom, all the stalls are empty, and the person going in ahead of me goes to the middle one. Really? Doesn't everyone prefer a stall between if at all possible?

Ugh this so much! I get that the stall furthest from the door is tiny and you don't want the one next to the sink, but really, the middle one?

I've heard this once before and I have to say I never think about it. I just go to a stall that's open and... that's it? I don't particularly care if there's a stall in between me and whoever. I can't specifically remember being in a three stall bathroom and doing this but I may have.

But since it's bothering other people I'll be more careful not to do it.

Worse, two out of three stalls on my work floor are consistently broken.

You're lucky you have the option of the other stalls. Where I work, the end stall is the dookie stall, to be avoided unless you gotta dookie, and the first stall has a toilet that has dreams of being a bidet. It splashes everywhere.

I've never in my life thought about this. The only reason I can see myself shooting for the middle stall is because that could satisfy me on some level, knowing I'm in the middle. It's a pattern thing, idk.

Arrghh, who does that? It guarantees that if someone else comes in after you, you've got no chance of a buffer zone.

This is not something that would have ever occurred to me. I do not care one bit whether there's a stall between me and another bathroom user, and I had no idea other people did care.

I read somewhere that people, when given the choice of any stall, tend to go into the second stall from the end closest to the door, avoiding the first stall but not bothering to walk further down the line (unless they specifically want the disabled stall). In a 3-stall bathroom, the second stall will be the middle one. So, they aren't choosing the middle stall, they're choosing the second stall and that just happens to be the middle stall.

Personally, I've never tried to put an empty stall between me and the next person. It never occurred to me. I mean, what if another person comes in and they take a stall next to you? You can't escape having to poop within two feet of another person, sorry.

I do not understand this aversion to pooping in public or work lavatories!
