Tbh "blah blah EVERYTHING is homophobic these days!" is just a way to shut down discussion and as a straight dude statements like that are non-productive and useless

No, I'm not trying to shut down shit. the opposite actually, I'm trying to unshut down op from their fic potential.

But seriously, if it's not homphobic, it's racist, or transphobic, or antiwoman, o islamophobic or abelist.

Fucking hell, I saw someone recently catch shit for drawing McCree with both arms because that's abelist.

Have your "discussion" all you want - do it in spite of the fact that someone somewhere will still use your discussion to shame and bully people, because that's an unavoidable truth, and is ofcourse no reason not to have your discussions - but if you're question is "Will someone take a moral stance against what I'm about to do" or "Will someone try to shit me down and claim they're just fighting the good fight while doing it" the answer will always be "YES" no matter what the topic. Someone will try to use accusations of homophobia or one of the other things mentioned above to shut people up. My answer to that will always be "Fuck them, do it anyway".
