[Spyro: Ripto's Rage! & Spyro: Year of the Dragon]

I'm glad the game is still something you enjoy! How do you feel about games that aim to be "spiritual sequels" to Spyro? Maybe something like that could provide you with a play-through that provides that new feeling of exploration?

Spyro <3

Year of the Dragon is my favourite game of all time! I feel you about knowing them too well, but I'd take the joy and comfort of having known them for years v. just getting introduced now. And there will almost certainly come a day when you don't know every single thing anymore and the mix of nostalgia and discovery will make you happy in ways you never knew you could be.

God I love these games. My heart still breaks about the third one being the last by Insomniac. I miss playing platformers, Spyro especially. It was so fun and colorful and the characters were great. It was also one of my first forays into dragon stuff.

Young tiny me might have also shipped Spyro and Elora a bit. Also I miss Hunter and Bianca. :(

I still love to walk around Autumn Plains.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I'm just curious: how do you have a game on in he background when you're writing, isn't that just really distracting or are you amazing at multitasking? I also have games I played to death and know line by line, but I still couldn't play them and write at the same time!

Possibly they have the game running (paused or on the main menu or something) in the background, and every so often they take a break from their writing to play the game for a bit.

I introduced my 3yo to the original Spyro trilogy last year. We still play it most days, sometimes for ages and sometimes for 10mins, but it's a big part of my life again.

I've been playing it since I was a kid, and tbh I'd lost interest in it slightly, but the joy she gets from watching me play (and "helping") is awesome. It's fuelled her imagination in RL as well - she loves pretending to be Spyro, and I usually end up being Ripto or the Sorceress ("the naughty Sorceress" as she calls her), with her chasing me around yelling "FIRE!!!"... Or I have to be a dragon from S1 because she finds it hilarious when they say "thank you for releasing me!" XD

There's no real point to this comment, but I was so happy to see a Spyro secret! <3 (She got a Spyro cushion for her 3rd birthday and he's so snuggly I kinda want one for myself...)
