I love Chelsea Peretti but I kind of agree about Gina. She's a little too much.

I don't know the fandom, but I actually like the idea of an arrogant female character. Too often male characters we're supposed to love and root for are full of themselves, but this theme isn't as common for female characters.

Gina is awesome. I can see why OP might not like her but I freaking love her. She is an unapologetic alpha female who has an ego and doesn't give a fuck. YESSSS

Gina's my favorite after Holt & .... Honestly I have no idea what the name of Terry Crew's character is, but I haven't missed her absence.

His character´s name is also Terry (or Jeffords, for the surname).

His character name happens to be Terry as well(Terry Jeffords).

I like her precisely because she's a character on TV, irl she'd be a nightmare.

I haven't missed her that much either but since it's more of an ensemble show I can roll with a character being gone for an episode or two.

100% same. She's hilarious, but not someone I'd want to know IRL. As a character, she's one of my faves, but I didn't even realize she wasn't there until the most recent ep mentioned her... The joys of having an amazing ensemble, I guess.

The writing for her character got so bad last season that I was in danger of actually disliking someone on this show, so I'm grateful for the break from her character.

Totally agree. Gina's one of my least favorite characters of all time, in anything, ever. It'd be awesome if she stayed gone forever.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Gina is why I don't watch the show anymore. I gave up after her obviously teaser "death" cliffhanger.

Well, that's not true. I gave it the next episode, thinking maybe she'll be badly hurt and less vain or something, IDK. Nope.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
She started out as funny, coasted into "okay, she's a bit much, but she's still funny," then she just stagnated into being kind of an asshole who was no longer funny.

I'm very on the fence about her character. Characters who are terrible but loveable at the same time are awesome, but Gina is too terrible, too often for me to like her. I actually think that her interactions with the Boyle clan help a bit, because they're weirdos but they sort of... soften her edges? I dunno.

I haven't gone back and watching the old seasons but I don't remember not liking Gina that much until more recently...

I remember it kind of happening with Andy on Parks and Rec about how he was kind of a lazy dope but a good guy but as the seasons progressed they just made him dumber?

(Anonymous) 2017-10-26 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
Ehhh... Andy started off as a lazy dope, but he wasn't really a good guy. I mean. He used his broken leg as an excuse to have his girlfriend wait on him hand and foot and then lied about how long it took to heal just so he could take advantage of her even longer. I'd argue that Andy might've remained kind of dumb but he improved in the good guy department over time.

I think he probably did get dumber, but I agree with anon that he got nicer. Early! Andy is a selfish, (ineptly) manipulative dick. Later he becomes a kinder, more well-meaning person.
