I’m jealous of people who can think of a character and hear their voice, because I imagine it must make writing fanfic easier and reading it more fun, but I don’t think that’s what you mean. I’m sorry you’re having a bad time, and hope things get better for you. As long as you know the characters’ voices are really coming from your imagination and not from outside you, I think you’ll be okay if you can get a handle on the depression. It doesn’t go away, but it can recede into the background some. And I know it’s hard but maybe try putting your booze money in a “sober fun stuff” account or jar, and go to a movie/shopping/the zoo/wherever, before you develop physical dependence or it gets worse.
