I, too, really liked the original series and the movie, but everything I heard and saw about the continuation did not excite or interest me and that's kind of the way I am about David Lynch - either "Wow!" or "WTF?" with not a whole lot of middle ground.

Plot-wise it's all over the place. The first season is worth watching though, just to get the references that are everywhere today. It was ground breaking back in the day: no one had seen anything like it then, style- and concept-wise.

Hating it seems the popular opinion, but I consider myself very much a pleb and I still loved it.
