My co-worker told me yesterday that one of the skeevy men who keeps coming in to my work and attempting to chat me up has started doing to same to another staff member. Who is sixteen. He's apparently aware of her age. She's super sweet and shy and I guess he's taking advantage of it. I'm now trying not to let her out of my sight when we're on duty together because fuck that. I'm going to the manager on my next shift to talk to him about it because, ugh. Not cool. At all.

Seriously. He's known for making creepy/inappropriate comments to the female staff but I didn't think he'd actually try it with a sixteen year old (he's in his fucking late forties). I'm hoping this will be grounds for getting him banned entirely because I'm really tired of seeing how uncomfortable all our girls are around him. Ugh.

I really hope he gets banned, too. :( Dealing with men like that adds so much stress to the workplace.

It does. I think these guys probably realise that since we work in retail we're expected to always be polite/friendly etc and think it means they can say/do whatever and we just have to take it. :/ I actually kind of hope I'll bump into him in a pub or something so I can just punch him in the balls without causing a scene at work, lol.

That is really gross. I hope your manager takes it seriously.

I think he will, he's been really supportive with stuff like this in the past and is pretty protective of his staff. I'm guessing no one's told him about this issue yet because he probably would have drop-kicked the guy into the sun by now! Fingers crossed for when I speak to him on Monday.

It's really great of you to look out for her and speak to the manager. Have you told her that you've all had problems with this guy and warned her not to give out any personal information?

This happened at a place I used to work. The manager didn't see a problem with letting the guy in because he was a paying customer and one of our part time girls (15 or 16) thought it would be safe to tell him what movie she was seeing later (he asked what she was doing later) AND THE FUCKER SHOWED UP AT THE CINEMAS. Ugh.

I haven't had the chance yet, but I think we're working together on Monday so I'm going to take her to one side and make sure she tries to keep him at arm's length. I don't want her to feel I'm babying her because she's our youngest staff member but I don't trust this guy one bit (he's really loud/obnoxious and at least three times bigger than her.) I just want her to know who to look out for. We have a few creepy customers like him but he's the worst offender.

Ugh, that's gross. It's so easy for details like that to slip out in conversation and skeevy men like him will fucking etch your routine into their minds. It's so creepy. I hope he backed off eventually? :(

Just tell her you're letting all the other women in the store know? If he's bothering women specifically.

We had store security at the door and they were a lot more concerned about our safety than the managers. One of them would tail him from a discreet distance in the store and come up to chat with us at the registers when he was served. It was a really bad location (highest stock-loss in the state!) so having them made us feel a lot safer.

Yeah, he's suspiciously quiet and fairly well-behaved whenever the manager or a male member of staff is around. I get the feeling he's worked out which days some of our staff work. My shifts are pretty changeable but Friday is a constant for me and guaranteed he always comes in.

Those security people sound awesome! Sometimes just having someone else there so you're not on your own can go a long way. We're a big company but I work in one of the smallest branches in a tiny town so we don't get security staff. :( Sucks that your managers didn't do more though.
