So I had an 8 hour shift today from early morning to 4 in the afternoon. I had planned since my workplace is close to a bus stop and I went and spent money ($12 but still) on a week long bus pass, I would go down to the shopping center and look for stuff to get friends this holiday season.

The day comes and I am SLOGGING through , getting by thinking about my outing. Until my meal break around noonish. One of managers asks me if I knew about being scheduled for a three hour customer service class...right after my shift. No! I did NOT know about this. What the fuck? One of the department managers tells me they're supposed to tell me a week in advance.

So much for my afternoon plans.

Ugh. That sucks, and a shitty lack of communication on their part. :/ I'd definitely consider making a complaint, it's not fair for your schedule to be fucked up without any warning.

I used to work with someone who would occasionally just cross out her shift on the rota and put it under someone else's name (usually mine). I complained to my boss because I thought she was the one changing shit around without notice, then my co-worker just went "oh sorry I just fancied having the day off, lol."

Sorry for being slow to respond.

That's horrible though! I'm pretty sure that behavior would be against the rules at a lot of places.
