Oddly enough, I like Anansi Boys better than American Gods (I don't understand all the vitriol towards AG--it's just a different kind of story). But that's largely because I picked it up on a whim while at college when I was feeling very lonely, and Gaiman's warm, comfortable, story-teller's voice was like a hug and a warm mug of cocoa.

I love Neverwhere, though (taking it with me when I move to London this week), his short stories are always pretty cool, and I love reading his blog.

Oh, I don't either. Frankly, I've been a fan of his for over twenty years, having picked up my first Sandman comic in the local comic shop when I was in high school. Neverwhere is also great, as is Stardust, Smoke and Mirrors, etc. In general, I enjoy almost everything he does. Not everything, but as you say, I think he has a good 'voice' and is very creative, which I appreciate, with a smart sense of humor. I get bored with a lot of stories easily, and if I can figure out the plot quickly and I'm not otherwise being entertained... goodbye.

I put down the last Harry Potter book a forth of the way in. I don't stick around for something bad. (Except Smallville, but it's a sick addiction...)
