It may interest you to know that Tolkien had a version in earlier drafts where Boromir did not die. He went to Gondor with Aragorn and eventually became a villain. I believe it ended with Aragorn killing him.

Me, too, OP! Boromir was one of Tolkien's better characters, not purely good or evil, but a wonderfully complex human.

That's why my favourite fic is my favourite fic. Boromir survives and returns to Gondor to lead the defence effort there. With Kíli backing him up.

That's 1 MILLION WORDS of glorious fic. There are problems with some grammar/spelling, but honestly, it such a great read. The main story is complete and I loves it LOTS.

It'll take some sleuthing but tumblr user notbecauseofvictories has a fic/verse going ("this bird my soul") in which Boromir not only survives but later enters a political marriage with a Haradrim princess to ensure peace - lots of inspiration from the Mughnal empire and exploring the "swarthy Easterners" Tolkien kinda failed on, and characters behaving respectfully to one another.... I buy into it so bad.
