Yeah, I cringed at a couple parts. Also, this trailer makes me wonder what direction they're taking the game in w/ this focus on new (main?) characters.

I assume that Ellie is going to be part of the group of the new main characters. Or, they are introducing them primarily for multiplayer.

Naughty Dog developer on the latest trailer: "At its core, The Last of Us Part II is still very much about Ellie and Joel, but for this reveal, we wanted to showcase several new characters that are integral to their next journey. We’re sure you have many questions after watching this scene. We’re also pretty sure that we’re going to see all sorts of theories about whom these characters are, where and when this scene takes place, and how all of this fits into Ellie and Joel’s next story. For now we’re keeping mum, but we’re excited to see what y’all make of this piece of the puzzle."

It's also been stated at the end of last year that that "players will assume control as Ellie". This one is supposed to be a contrast to the first.

Oh, that's good. My experience with game sequels has generally been that they'll take previous main characters and turn them into NPCs, so I'm glad Ellie is confirmed playable.

I hear ya. I have a really good feeling about this sequel though. It scares me because I never have expectations for anything, just to avoid disappointment, but I feel like everyone involved genuinely cares about these games. I think we're going to get some quality stuff.

I agree. I was really impressed with today's trailer.
