One of my mutuals on Twitter - who I genuinely really like - is dating another Twitter person who everybody hates and who genuinely kind of sucks

I do not know how to process this and there's no other place I can practically talk about it but please believe me, this is GENUINELY SHOCKING and deserves ALL CAPS

I guess the lesson to take away here is that "be annoying on Twitter -> relationship" is a more plausible path than I would have thought (I would have thought 0% plausible)

I'd have said that the lesson is that people have value beyond just what you perceive, and that however much you are only capable of seeing them as someone undeserving of love, others might be capable of seeing more.

You're not wrong!

I do live in fear that my girlfriend is just tricking herself that she enjoys my company, and one day she will see that, no, actually everyone else is right and that I have no value. It's a worry, and far more comforting to believe as I've said above that people are capable of seeing value where others are not.
