There's a difference between "lol faggot <3" and "fucking faggot."

Those really aren't the only two ways the word is used. What about everything that is ambiguous and falls in between terms of endearment and gay bashing?

Those were just examples, anyway if you can't tell this sort of thing from context you deserve to get all huffy and offended. It's the same with any other form of sarcasm. People's internet sarcasm detectors fail, people get offended over trifles, life goes on.

I don't care because it's just a word. Get offended over more important things.

Because uhhhhhh it obviously implies that offense is universal and that everyone judges thing by the same wavelength, which simply isn't true. If a gay person is bashed their entire lives with that word to the point where they truly and deeply loathe it, I don't think that counts as unimportant. Maybe you do.
