Screw Political Correctness.

there are a gazillion words that are offensive to one type of people or another

Faggot is offensive to gay people

nigger is offensive to black people

the doll Malibu Stacy was offensive to Lisa Simpson the Feminist

Spaz and Retarded are offensive to people who are mentally disabled

saying the words Jesus Christ as an insult is very offensive to Christians

calling a Hispanic a border hopper or a Spic is offensive to them.

I am a Christian and people say Jesus Christ in a derogatory way all the time, I may not personally like it. but those people have the right to say it if they want too, I'm not going to get all butthurt about what people say.

If you don't like what someone has to say, don't listen to them. but people have freedom of speech, and what's hateful to you isn't necessarily hateful to others.

how many times when you see a person driving, who's obviously not very good at it, do you comment on how they're too old to be driving, too young to be driving, ugh women drivers, oh they're asian they can't drive. I see people do this all the time when they yell out their car window at the other person

everyone at one time or another has said something, ageist, sexist, racist, and all the other different types of insults.

everyone has the capacity to offend or be offended on any given day.

if we worried about saying something that might offend somebody else, we might never speak. so everyone just needs to get over themselves.

BUT I WANNA CALL BLACK PEOPLE NIGGERS AND GAY MEN FAGGOTS AND WOMEN BITCHES AND HISPANICS WETBACKS AND SPICS AND IT'S NOT FAAAIIIRRRR.

If you don't like what someone has to say, don't listen to them. but people have freedom of speech, and what's hateful to you isn't necessarily hateful to others.

And we have the freedom of speech to call them out on it. Funny how that works, isn't it?

how many times when you see a person driving, who's obviously not very good at it, do you comment on how they're too old to be driving, too young to be driving, ugh women drivers, oh they're asian they can't drive. I see people do this all the time when they yell out their car window at the other person

I've never done that and I don't like when other people make those comments, either. Your "OH EVERYONE DOES IT!" example only works if everyone actually does it.

Lastly, tiniest potential to offend someone, somewhere =/= knowing that something will offend someone because it has a history of derogatory use many times used in combination with legal and social discrimination.

Hi there, anon!

It appears you're trying to make a point!

You may not know this, but by prefacing what you're saying with "Screw Political Correctness," you already sound like an ignorant prick!

It is true what you are saying! Many people are offended by many different things! And we all do have freedom of speech! However, pointing out both of these things does not provide any kind of argument as to why we should all use prejudiced and derogatory language without discretion!

Your lack of an argument, in fact, leads us to believe that you are mostly quoting soundbytes of other ignorant people who complain a lot about political correctness! This only serves to further undermine your point.

I'm sure that if you rethink your arguments, you can come back with something that is not only more coherent, but less obfuscated.

Looking forward to hearing your well-reasoned opinion very soon!

Dude, the fact that a lot of people are jerks (oh look! an insult that doesn't target an oppressed group of people!) does not excuse you for being one.

We live in a world that has a lot of prejudices, and they'll stay there unless people make an effort to end them. If you're not willing to make the extremely simple decision to think about the impact of your words and choose to be a respectful person, then have fun being part of the problem - just don't be surprised if people call you on it.

Um...

If you are a Christian, you should know that one of the aspects of love is that it "is not rude," right? And that we are to "love our neighbors?"

I'm a Christian, myself (and yes, "Jesus Christ!" as cuss word does offend me, but I keep quiet about it so as not to cause trouble with people), but there's a lot wrong with what you're saying here.

... geez, I hope you never use "border hopper" - I grew up in Arizona, and a lot of my Hispanic friends were BORN AND RAISED in the United States. *Shakes head.*

To the matter at hand... I'm probably one of the "less politically correct" people you'll meet, but I get honestly get annoyed/offended when I see people throw around words like "faggot" and "gay" as general insult. I'm as straight as a laser beam/almost asexual, so it doesn't apply to me, but still, I find it sad that people throw out these words without thinking of their origins, nor the people they affect.

"Faggot" is especially bad. Do you know where it comes from? It's proper, original usage was a synonym for "kindling" (I still consider it okay when referring only to sticks, not people - as in old books). The modern, slang usage can be traced back to the time when PEOPLE WERE BURNED for being homosexual. So you can see why it's offensive, right?

Think before you throw out insults and slurs. They are hurtful and they don't make you look smart. Christians are supposed to set a good example. Decent humans are considerate to one another.
