Oh yeah, twitter is definitely worse. It makes tumblr look manageable.

On the other hand, Twitter is much more focused around your timeline - there's not the same significance placed on tags that there is on Tumblr. So it's a lot easier to control your exposure to things in that sense - it's not like Tumblr where you can see some Wild West stuff in the tags. You can block, mute, unfollow, turn off retweets, or filter words on something or someone, and get it off your TL pretty reliably.
