Some horror games

[personal profile] feotakahari 2017-11-01 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Blank Dream is brilliant and heartrending, but more to the point, it's a third-person horror game that actually stays in third person. It never does that sudden snap into first-person jump scares that other horror games love so much. That makes it easier to keep playing even when the monsters start coming out. http://vgperson.com/games/blankdream.htm

Detention falls into the "kids at school encounter horror" genre, but the nature of the fear is different than I'm used to, all bound up in selfish power and unwavering order. It reminds me of some of the stuff I've seen out of countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union. http://store.steampowered.com/app/555220/Detention/

Fragile Dreams is often described as a horror game, but I'm not sure that's really true. It's a genre of one, parallel to both horror and comedy with its focus on a single emotion: loneliness.

I'm running out of time before dinner, so I'll quickly add Theresia (horror adventure), LIT (horror puzzle), and The Suffering (when I was younger and less jaded by modern graphics and gunplay, this was my favorite game ever.)
